Bill,

It's OK to comb more than the NYT for information. Take it from a liberal.

Here's a list of sources that mention Lieberman's opposition to the public option:

(http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703574604574499641577365948.html)WSJ - 1 for your side

(http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28788.html) politico.com

(http://mediamatters.org/research/200910270035) from media matters: "Several media outlets have uncritically reported Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-CT) statement that he will oppose cloture for the Senate health care reform bill..."

(http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/27/lieberman-id-vote-against_n_335627.html) huff po

(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/27/AR2009102702465.html) Washington Post

These are all from Oct. 27 and 28.

Below are earlier reports:

from Oct. 21: "Senator JOE LIEBERMAN (Independent, Connecticut): Because our country needs health insurance reform, but if I decide in the end that the bill that is about to leave the Senate is going to do more harm than good, then I'll - then I won't vote for cloture at that point.

WELNA: In other words, Lieberman might be willing to help Republicans filibuster a health care bill when it comes up for a final vote. Further complicating matters is Illinois Democrat Roland Burris. He says he won't vote for a health care bill unless it does have a public option." on npr (http://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=113990953)

and on Oct. 14th (http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/14/lieberman-opposes-finance-committee-bill/?src=tp) It's the Health Section of the NYT, the Prescriptions blog, but it's there. I believe this is the day following your original post.

<i>Imagine the coverage a Democratic senator would have gotten by breaking with his party to help George Bush pass his Social Security plan.</i>

A horrible imaginary comparison for so many reasons. Really, you want to bring up Bush's efforts to privatize Social Security <b>now?</b>

The non-existent tolerance of Liberals? By definition we're tolerant, never mind that History tells us that it's your side that murders the opposition. So much for Conservative "tolerance".

Your post perfectly exemplifies the 'thin-skinned bully bawling over their perpetual victimhood' that sane people have come to know and loathe, i.e., the modern day American Wingnut "Conservative".

And you're a Lawyer? Back to the Therapist's office, dude. I'm embarrassed for you after this one.

Lieberman is the Madonna of the political arena. Except that in late-career Madonna can still sometimes get the camera to focus on her. Gotta wonder what lofty principle Lieberman is invoking to override the will of 59 colleagues and the preference of 48-42% of the American people. Where's Hulk Hogan now that the Republicans really need him.

Bill, this sauce was pretty weak the first time you cooked it up, and it doesn't look like you've improved on the recipe. Lieberman's statement of a policy preference paled in comparison to his statement that he'd filibuster the health care bill that Senator Reid introduced last week. Any fair editor, liberal or conservative, mainstream or alternative, political or apolitical, can tell you that one of those things was a story, and the other was not. The Lieberman story pre-filibuster was an attempt by an increasingly irrelevant politician to grab a headline. The 'Joe vs. the Volcano' filibuster declaration was a major news development.

And if you want to talk about liberal vs. conservative tolerance, well, I think Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava could probably offer you a talking point or two.
