Is ‘Scribblenauts’ the Most Creative Game Ever Made?

It’s certainly looking like it at the moment, as every demo video and playthrough has yielded nothing but hilarious results. The most recent of these comes from Stephen Totilo over at Kotaku who got his hands on an early build of the game, and attempted to beat one of the levels. Below I’ve documented eight out of his sixteen attemps at it, and I suggest you head over there to see the rest.
“Attempt 1: Created bear to attack bee buzzing over first flower, so I could safely grab the flower. Bear killed bee. Bear then killed Maxwell. Level failed.
Attempt 2: Made bear; bear killed bee. Laid down bear trap. Died. Level failed.
Attempt 3: Made bear; bear killed bee. Laid down bear trap, ran away. Bear didn’t chase. Ran back over. Caught self in bear trap. Mauled by bear. Level failed.
Attempt 4: Made bear; bear killed bee; laid trap. Bear caught in trap. Bear broke free. Killed Maxwell. Level failed.
Attempt 5: Made exterminator. Exterminator fumigated bee. Exterminator did not maul Maxwell. Has Maxwell grab first flower and placed it in basket. Approached lake containing piranha and second flower. Fell in. Jumped out. Made fishing pole. Fished piranha out. On land, piranha flopped, attacked, killed Maxwell. Level failed.
Attempt 6: Made exterminator. Exterminator fumigated bee. Did not grab first flower. Approached piranha lake. Made fishing boat. Dropped big boat into lake. Boat must have crushed flower. Level failed.”
It’s too bad he wasn’t able to make a video of this playthough for whatever legal reasons, but it gives you a pretty good idea that this is a puzzle game the likes of which we’ve never seen before. The ability to input practically ANY noun and have it show up to aid (or hurt) you in the game is a mind blowing concept to say the least, and I’m half tempted to buy a DS just to play it when it comes out this fall.
Thankfully, the game is supposed to eventually come to other consoles as well (XBLA perhaps?) and I think I can wait until it’s adapted.

[...] 15 failed attempts at Scribblenauts – [Double Kill] [...]
I thought it was interesting what the Scribblenaut designers decided to leave out of the game, namely sexually related content. It shows how sexually repressed North America is when we are fine with flamethrower and gun violence, but have panic attacks over something as inconsequential as a dildo. I wonder why they didn’t just put parental controls in the game.
