Jezebel remains mute as Gawker Media employee pleads guilty to harassment

Apparently, Jezebel, a blog devoted to all things schizophrenically feminist, has nothing to say about the fact that Gawker Media’s video editor Richard Blakeley (as of this writing, his name is still on the Gawker roster) pleaded guilty on domestic violence to “Harassment 2nd-phy contact” charges this week.

Here’s Get off My Internets’ original post on Blakeley’s arrest.

Here’s Get off My Internets’ post on Blakeley’s guilt plea.

Here are the New York State Unified Court System’s case details.

Here are 413 anti-domestic violence posts on Jezebel.

Here’s the definition of hypocrisy.

Of course, this brand of schizo-feminism is nothing new to Jezebel, where black face is OK as long as you’re black, reposting NSFW photos of vaginas is OK as long as you’re criticizing them, and contemplating Venus Williams’ ass is OK as long as you’re a woman.

No wonder no one can figure out what “feminism” means these days. (Huh? What? Say again?) Page-view feminism has more personalities than Sybil.

Congrats on that, girls.

Er – was it mot for a restraining order violation?

“Page-view feminism has more personalities than Sybil.” That’s interesting. Speaking of which, are you paid by page views?

I’m no Jezebel fan, but what exactly were they supposed to post? It’s a site about celebrities and fashion. They only talk about feminism in relation to celebrity and fashion. (“Oh noes, photoshop!”) Suddenly writing about this guy’s conviction would be weird.

Also what the hell, “page view feminism?” Is this not “page view journalism”? or “page view opinionism?”

Furthermore, this is something Gawker itself should have covered, more so than Jezebel. Gawker covers media–an employee of any other new or gossip outlet that had been arrested for assault would have gotten full coverage in Gawker. Or are you saying only sites aimed at women bear the responsibility for covering domestic violence?
