Tour Obama’s Hawaii on Oahu
I’m in Hawaii for five days, staying at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa.
Located about 30 minutes from Honolulu, it’s part of the 642-acre Ko Olina Resort & Marina, an active family resort community on the western shores of Oahu.
Although it features an 18-hole golf course, I’m more interested in the 1.5 miles of white, sandy beaches. I’m not going anywhere.
Although if I was, I’d be tempted to go on the Obama Tour Hawaii. Barack Obama grew up on Oahu, and the tour includes where the POTUS went to school, played ball, took in the movies and worked as a teenager.
The narrated tour explores his roots and shares stories from childhood friends, teachers and coaches. The cost is $40 and includes pick-up and drop-off at Waikiki hotels.
Read more about Barack Obama’s Oahu in this Vancouver Sun article. It’s interesting that the link in the piece to the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau’s Obama microsite is no longer there.
