I love Vienna (and I don’t mean ‘The Bachelor’) and Vienna loves Oscar winner Christopher Waltz

Sure, springtime in Paris is nice, but I also love Vienna. As in Vienna, Austria.

I spent five days in Vienna in May 2009, attending an international conference with my husband. We arrived a day early and stayed at the uniquely original Hotel Alstadt. We had a fabulous room and a bountiful breakfast, and it was tough to relocate to the meeting hotel, as nice as it was.

One of the many highlights of beautiful Vienna was the long and leisurely lunch at Cafe Central, which opened in 1860 and is one of Vienna’s most famous coffee houses.

And following the 82nd Academy Awards, the city is obviously celebrating the Best Supporting Actor Oscar of Viennese born Christopher Waltz for his role in Inglorious Basterds.

And then there’s that other Vienna, as in Jake’s chosen squeeze on The Bachelor. I wonder what the locals think of her?

    About Me

I'm a professional freelance writer and photographer who has been in the journalism 'biz since 1988. I live on a small farm on an island in Puget Sound with my husband, chickens, turkeys and our very own field of dreams. When I'm not packing and unpacking from exploring the seven continents (yup, I've done 'em all), I enjoy theater, movies, jazz, fine food, heavenly spas and long dinner parties with my family and friends. Oh, I grew up in the '60s and I sort of remember it through the haze.
