Cindy Crawford, Michael Phelps at OMEGA Boutique during Vancouver 2010 Olympics

Cindy Crawford

The last time I was at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, there was no place to sit in the lobby. Turned out that OMEGA, Official Timekeeper of the 2010 Winter Games, was in the midst of constructing its official OMEGA Boutique. It opened on Dec. 4, 2009 and will remain open throughout the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

There will be no shortage of celebrities visiting the boutique, including OMEGA’s family of ambassadors who are hosting events throughout the Games. Supermodel Cindy Crawford will appear at an event at the OMEGA Boutique on Feb. 14; swimmer Michael Phelps on Feb. 18; and NASA astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan on Feb. 21, 2010.

The OMEGA Boutique has a multilingual staff that includes a watchmaker who will have a fully-outfitted bench in the boutique, allowing visitors to see how horologists do their detailed, precision work.

The Vancouver boutique is one of just four exclusive OMEGA Boutiques in North America. The other three are located in Beverley Hills, Mexico City and New York City.

    About Me

I'm a professional freelance writer and photographer who has been in the journalism 'biz since 1988. I live on a small farm on an island in Puget Sound with my husband, chickens, turkeys and our very own field of dreams. When I'm not packing and unpacking from exploring the seven continents (yup, I've done 'em all), I enjoy theater, movies, jazz, fine food, heavenly spas and long dinner parties with my family and friends. Oh, I grew up in the '60s and I sort of remember it through the haze.
