New route down 7th Avenue for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City
For 82 years, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has marched down Broadway. But on Nov. 26, 2009 there will be a new 7th avenue route, with the parade starting at 77th Street and Central Park West and traveling south on Central Park West. Instead of going down Broadway, it will turn east onto Central Park South, then turn east and continue along Central Park South to 7th Avenue. The rest of the route is on Macy’s website above.
New balloons for 2009 include Pillsbury Doughboy, Ronald McDonald, Sailor Mickey and Spider-Man. There are also a number of new floats: Local Heroes Helping Everyday, There’s a Party in My City and the third edition of Santa’s Sleigh.
The parade begins at 9 AM and lasts until around noon. If you can’t view it in person, it will be broadcast on NBC.
