Vancouver’s recently renovated Georgian Court Hotel features a separate floor just for women. The Orchid Floor — 18 rooms dedicated exclusively to female travelers — includes such bathroom extras as a flat iron, curling iron, ladies-only emergency kits and upgraded Aveda amenities. Guests will also find a yoga mat, additional satin-padded and skirt hangers and In Style and Holts magazines.

The Orchid Floor is part of the hotel’s re-branding to provide fresh, seamless service in a contemporary setting that’s within reach of the independent business traveler. Reservations on the Orchid Floor are available to female travelers at no additional fee.

    About Me

I'm a professional freelance writer and photographer who has been in the journalism 'biz since 1988. I live on a small farm on an island in Puget Sound with my husband, chickens, turkeys and our very own field of dreams. When I'm not packing and unpacking from exploring the seven continents (yup, I've done 'em all), I enjoy theater, movies, jazz, fine food, heavenly spas and long dinner parties with my family and friends. Oh, I grew up in the '60s and I sort of remember it through the haze.

Tim Hortons, a fast-growing “quick service restaurant” founded in Canada, is headed to the Big Apple. Will New Yorkers embrace Tim’s coffee and the other menu items of this restaurant founded by a Canadian hockey legend? Stay tuned. In the meantime, read about it on my Closet Canuck blog.
