The picture which accompanied this article was definitely ‘not safe for work’. So instead I’ve put up a photograph of Admiral Horthy. It was under Horthy’s leadership in the 1920s that Hungary became the first post World War I nationalist dictatorship in Europe, setting the scene for all kinds of ensuing unpleasantness. This is the style of politics favoured by Jobbik, the right wing nutters who last weekend took around 15% of the popular vote, in the first round of general elections. Their foot soldiers are the Magyar Gárda, who really have it in for Roma (gypsies) and Jews, even as they try to convince observers that they’re as harmless as overgrown cub scouts.

Anyway, I thought if anything would encapsulate how crazy the socio-political scene can be in Hungary, home to not only several hundred thousand unrepentant xenophobes, but also the porn capital of Europe, it would be this article. Incidentally, the website is ‘Sexiside’, the shamelessly slutty sister website of the generally very excellent Pestiside.
