Sen. Coburn’s Ricky Ricardo moment at the Sotomayor hearings

OK, that was weird: I’ve animated actual audio from today’s Sotormayor confirmation hearings, featuring Sen Tom Coburn (R-1953) sharing a moment with the nominee. The animation, with commentary, is after the cut. continue »

Lindsey Graham vs Sonia Sotomayor

Clearly, Sen. Lindsey Graham thinks it would be a horrible, horrible thing to put a judge who asks tough questions on the Supreme Court. Actual audio from yesterday’s Sotomayor hearings, animated with commentary, after the cut… continue »

John McCain is OK with Sarah Palin’s resignation

No, really–quitting shows leadership, or something. But will McCain endorse Palin’s possible 2012 presidential bid? This is actual audio from McCain’s appearance on Meet the Press Sunday:

New animation: Fox & Friends & Racial Purity

This is actual audio from yesterday’s Fox & Friends–a discussion about a nice study from Sweden that shows elderly couples have a lower rate of dementia than elderly singles takes a bizarre turn:

Yes, apparently you can just yammer about preserving the purity of the white race on FOX News, and all they’ll do is put a wacky sound effect in the background. Hurray for the state of political discourse in this country!

I’m think I’m as appalled at his weird “pure genes” theory as I am at his staggering scientific illiteracy. FOX, making us stupider since 1996.

New animation: Obama on health care

This is actual audio from the president’s 4th of July address to the nation over the weekend:

I’m still not quite understanding why a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate is afraid of tackling a public option that a majority of Americans would prefer to what we have now, and why the president is all kinda waffle-y on it as well, and how it reflects America’s can-do spirit to settle for much less than we deserve. I guess that’s why I’m not a pundit on TV.

    About Me

Animator. Here's some of what I've currently got going on:

I have a blog, of course.

Atom Age Vampire: Atom Age Vampire is my first feature-length animated film; it's currently screening at film festivals and is available on DVD.

    The 10,000 3x5: 10,000 drawings on 3x5 cards.

    I'm on Twitter.

My book Scott Bateman's Sketchbook of Secrets & Shame (Word Riot, 2007) is still available on Amazon.

For over 160 older animations, visit me on YouTube. There are also a few animations from my old TV show Scott Bateman Presents Scott Bateman Presents (PlumTV) on my VImeo page.

Also: I played the Sun in a play about the solar system in third grade. It's all been downhill since.
