Here are this morning’s:

* Is patient non-compliance a big part of the health care problem? — three of every four Americans don’t take their drugs as directed — costs the U.S. $290 billion per year (over 11% of our $2.5 trillion health care bill)

* Men’s testosterone increases with female ovulation — men in the current studies smelled t-shirts worn by women near ovulation or far from ovulation — subsequently displayed higher levels of testosterone

* People can taste fat — people with a high sensitivity to the taste of fat tended to eat less fatty foods and were less likely to be overweight — could be key to weight loss

* Interracial marriages have a higher divorce rate — one white person and one person of another race mostly only show higher divorce rates when the white spouse is a female — white husband/black wife were nearly 50% less likely to divorce than white/white couples

* When is wine worth less? — when it’s called “organic” — considered “hippie wine,” it tended to turn to vinegar more quickly than non-organic wine

    About Me

I'm a freelance writer and blogger based in Brooklyn, NY. My background is mostly in politics. I've worked on the editorial boards of the New York Sun and New York Post. In 2006, I wrote a book, "The Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians, and the Battle to Control the Republican Party" (Wiley). I've also done my share of freelancing, for places like the Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times, Reason, and RealClearPolitics.

These days, I'm interested in humanity's ever-expanding understanding of its own irrationality. Hence, this blog.
