Neuro News Nanos: Weekend Edition

Here are this weekend’s:

* A typology of U.S. presidential stalkers and assassins — “The Presidential Nuisance or Presidential Attention Seeker” — comparable to a similar typology done of royal stalkers in Britain

* 10 rules of group psychology — leaders gain trust by conforming — groups can form from almost nothing

* Brain treats tools as temporary body parts — experiments with a grabber — after using the grabber, the volunteers overestimated the length of their arm

* Implicit egoism — do people with C and D names get worse grades? — get into worse schools?

* The uncomfortable logic of the “white marriage market” — “black men have better prospects on the white marriage market than Asian men. For women, the reverse is true. Because Asians are relatively short on average, women fare substantially better on the white marriage market than black women.” — how much of this is about height?

About Me

I'm a freelance writer and blogger based in Brooklyn, NY. My background is mostly in politics. I've worked on the editorial boards of the New York Sun and New York Post. In 2006, I wrote a book, "The Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians, and the Battle to Control the Republican Party" (Wiley). I've also done my share of freelancing, for places like the Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times, Reason, and RealClearPolitics.

These days, I'm interested in humanity's ever-expanding understanding of its own irrationality. Hence, this blog.
