Al Gore on Global Warming

Here are this morning’s:

* Virtual reality smoking cessation — smokers who crushed computer-simulated cigarettes as part of a psychosocial treatment program in a virtual reality environment had significantly reduced nicotine dependence and higher rates of tobacco abstinence than smokers participating in the same program who grasped a computer-simulated ball — 4 weekly cigarette crushing sessions

* Cell phone for old people — has ring tone — just as a signal that it’s working

* In politics and sport, conspiracy theorists make the same mistake — conspiracy will always be with us — it’s another escape hatch from the random

* Kids the key to happiness in marriage — having children improves married peoples’ life satisfaction and the more they have, the happier they are — for unmarried individuals, raising children has little or no positive effect on their happiness

* Why do fewer Americans now believe in global warming? — maybe it’s the economy — maybe it’s a cool summer

    About Me

I'm a freelance writer and blogger based in Brooklyn, NY. My background is mostly in politics. I've worked on the editorial boards of the New York Sun and New York Post. In 2006, I wrote a book, "The Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians, and the Battle to Control the Republican Party" (Wiley). I've also done my share of freelancing, for places like the Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times, Reason, and RealClearPolitics.

These days, I'm interested in humanity's ever-expanding understanding of its own irrationality. Hence, this blog.
