Here are this morning’s:

* The science of blinking — actual blinking, not Gladwell blinking — blinks seems to be controlled so they occur at the start and end of meaning actions

* Night terror — affected sleepers experience nightmares and can unknowingly damage themselves or their partners in fits of dream world violence — choking or headlock attacks, throwing someone or throwing yourself through a window, and diving from the bed

* Brain-to-brain communication — with brain-computer interface — with the help of electrodes, a computer and Internet connection

* Is political activism good for you? — those who identified themselves as activists and who said they were planning some activism were happier and more fulfilled than non-activists — activism may actually lead to greater happiness

* Death by information overload? — can have a negative effect on such activities as organizational decision making, innovation, and productivity — forcing knowledge workers to take weekly breaks from email and other work distractions improved performance

    About Me

I'm a freelance writer and blogger based in Brooklyn, NY. My background is mostly in politics. I've worked on the editorial boards of the New York Sun and New York Post. In 2006, I wrote a book, "The Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians, and the Battle to Control the Republican Party" (Wiley). I've also done my share of freelancing, for places like the Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times, Reason, and RealClearPolitics.

These days, I'm interested in humanity's ever-expanding understanding of its own irrationality. Hence, this blog.
