Neuropoll: Dennis the Dentist
Yesterday, we looked at whether female lawyers with masculine first names were more likely to become judges (one study says yes, at least in South Carolina). Incidentally, we discussed another finding: that people’s names can affect their career choices. People named Dennis disproportionately become dentists. People with “Geo” in their name disproportionately get published in geoscientific journals.
So, does your name match your career? I’m Ryan the reporter, or Ryan the writer, I suppose.

Andrew the analyst!
(which is weird i started out with a biology degree; seems like the universe is self-correcting or are we seeing meaning where there is none?)
Met a guy named Tyler who, ironically, did tiling. I don’t know if you could call his career a tiler, though. Met him at this Salt Lake Dentist, which is a great dentist office, by the way. No Dennis the Dentist there, unfortunately.
