Gotta Love New York – 10 Year Old Kid Fined for Selling Lemonade
You know the City of New York is in financial trouble when they need to fine a 10 year old lemonade purveyor. And you know the New York Post is going to use some great puns in their article about heartless city workers.
Three sourpuss Parks Department agents put the squeeze on a 10-year-old girl in Riverside Park yesterday, slapping the tyke with a $50 ticket for hawking lemonade without a permit.
Clementine Lee and her photographer dad, Richard, didn’t know a permit was needed to sell iced drinks and chocolate chips cookies on the Upper West Side. Business was good until the “hostile” agents approached the street vendors.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, this is outrageous!” he told the agents.
Dozens of onlookers rallied to the pair’s defense, shouting that the Parks officers were violating the Lees’ civil rights, but the brokenhearted pair packed up and went home.
But, the saga ends well. Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe announced that the ticket would be nixed.
We’re going to make lemonade out of lemons . . . I look forward to buying lemonade from her if I pass by,” said the commissioner.
Clementine said she might take him up on the offer.

I thought everyone had it wrong until I read this:

I guess New York isn’t interested in cultivating/encouraging entrepreneurship anymore.
