Commercial Pilots Don’t Like New TSA Rules Either

Next time you find yourself on a commercial airliner and you’re handcuffed to the seat because TSA said so, don’t blame the pilots.

Vimeo founder Jakob Lodwick was on a JetBlue Airways flight from San Juan, inbound to the United States,  earlier and kindly recorded the pilot’s announcement. At first the pilot sounds quite serious, but even he can’t take this seriously. Check it out for yourself. Gawker has even uploaded it with a transcript.

There are so many questions from this video. Why couldn’t they watch the airline-provided TV content? Can’t even have reading materials? Seriously? They’re going to have to pry my iPod from my hands first. And is “sterile zone” going to become the official TSA term for the last hour of every flight? It’s kind of clever…and also kind of depressing.

What of the rules, why speak on them when passengers nearly died just by getting on a flight to America. My apologies if i use this spot to place this comment, but we all need to be careful…. (writtenviews) on twitter has more.
