Afghan Desk Weekly Roundup

(T-shirt by Zazzle.com)
This week saw Kabul’s drowsy, post-Eid calm shattered by a blast that ripped through the heart of the city. Cops say that the attack was planned in Pakistan, which led Afghan Desk to declare an unofficial “Pakistan Week.”
It started with a look at the elephantine aid package that Washington will soon be handing Islamabad, and followed with analysis of the relationship between Pakistan-based insurgents and the government of Pakistan. One of those insurgents is Hakimullah Mehsud, who it turns out, is not at all dead.
Next week should be a busy one. We haven’t talked about the election in some time and there may be word on that in coming days. In the meantime, Sunday Morning Cartoons From Afghanistan!
