A War Correspondent Responds to MJ’s Death
“Thank God he waited ‘till today to kick off. Any sooner and nobody would have read my piece.” –A British friend of mine who just got back from covering a major combat offensive in Helmand province.
I swear we’re not heartless, hard-boiled or cynical. But as fans mourn one man’s death, let’s keep in mind that over 5,000 soldiers have died in Afghanistan and Iraq since the US-led invasion. Each of them was important to somebody, somewhere too.

I have to agree. Let’s not forget it is the media doing this, his story will go on for weeks on end, there will be no reprieve because that is the way our media works. It doesn’t matter that there is a whole world out there w/other worthy news…it’s all about sex, drugs, rock-n-roll…and scandal!
