About Me

Claire's the one in red, Katty's in grey. We're both reporters--Katty for BBC, Claire for Good Morning America. Writing Womenomics (now a New York Times best-seller!) is one of the best things that we've ever done. It was a labor of....complete passion. Who wouldn't love the subject--it's our lives. But we learned so much along the way--about our power--and about how other women pull it off. And we had a blast working together--even though we were warned that teaming up might destroy our friendship. Ha! I think our husbands worried we might run off together.

Professional

I'm Known For...

Claire: Fair interviews. Assuming people might have a good side.

Katty: Getting things done as fast as possible, which can be a good thing and a bad thing.

My Current Project

My Greatest Achievement

My Biggest Regret

Claire: Not starting the breeding process earlier. I think I'd have a few more.

Listening to my bosses when they told me to get out of the Russian White House when Boris Yeltsin was trying to blow it up.

Katty: No big ones, yet.

I Truly Respect

Claire: Serenity

Katty: My co-author

Moments I'd Like To Forget

Katty: That moment I pressed send on that email.

How I Pay For This Wardrobe

Claire: Um, My clothes suck. Ask Katty.

Katty: Sales, of course!

Blocks I've Been Around

Claire: Is this supposed to be a number? Geez. Way too many to count.

Katty: Pregnancy and childbirth.

Things That Really Happened

Claire: I was on Tiananmen Square during the crackdown.

I locked my son in our car when he was two outside of a Chinese food restaurant and could not get him out for an hour and had to make funny faces and noises all the while wanting to scream and cry.

I was in Bucharest when the Ceausescus were executed.

I told my current husband I'd be happy to use the wedding ring from my first marriage. I'm not sentimental. He said no.

I was in the Russian White House during the coup.

I got married in a Russian Orthodox Church (the first time.) I think I was baptized, but am not sure.

Katty: I once pulled out a business card at an interview with a top financier in Tokyo, only it was a pacifier. I laughed. No one else did.

Where I'd Like To Be 10 Years From Now

Claire: Writing and reporting and listening to my teenage kids, who still adore me and want to hug me every minute, tell me every detail about their lives.

Katty: I'm not sure where I'd like to be 10 months from now, so 10 years is a long long way off.

Why True/Slant

Claire: Great reading. Great conversation. Great opinion. Great debate.

Katty: We love the people.

Personal

What I'm Currently Addicted To...

Claire: 24, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, My daughter's stomach.

Katty: My digital calendar - my memory is so bad I can't even remember how many appointments I've forgotten.

This Is Annoying Me...

Claire: The feeling that I will never ever ever catch up on all of my emails.

Katty: Twitter

This Is Making Me Worry...

Claire: Are my children drinking enough milk? Will the news business be able to support good investigative reporting in 3 years?

Katty: My inability to twitter.

This Is Bringing Me Joy...

I'm Running From...

Claire: Filing.

Katty: The Amazon sales list.

This Is Making Me Think - Hard...

Claire: Two very smart women the other day talking to me about the fact that vaccines really may not be good for our kids. I want to work on that next for GMA.

Katty: Torture. Really.

Can't Do Without

Claire: My husband's smile. My blackberry. Sleep. My pills. (I'm not telling.)

Katty: Coffee. Strong and black.

Favorite Voices

Claire: Hugo and Della. Katty: My husband.

My Most Awkward Moment

Katty: Sending the wrong email to the wrong person. If you've ever done it, you know exactly what I mean.

My Secret Ambition

Claire: To be a doctor

Katty: Nailing a big big jump on a kite surf. But I think I'm too chicken.
