I've worked as a ghostwriter, a magazine editor, and an acquisitions editor in publishing, and lived for quite a while in NYC. Now I live in the trees and am a freelance "content provider" for print and digital media and for broadcast programming. I also rep the work of angling artist Ernest Schwiebert. I published a short story collection, "The Midnight Fish," in 2001, and the satires, "The Vampire Survival Guide," (2008) and "The Vampire Seduction Handbook," co-written with Luc Richard Ballion" (2009). My novels are represented by Harold Ober Associates, NYC.

Things That Really Happened
A brown bear was grunting at me while I was trying to land my first Pacific salmon on a fly rod. I couldn't see him because he was in the tall grass behind me, but he kept making this deep "woof" noise. The sockeye salmon had run downstream like mad, and I had chased it, and bumbled right into the bear's personal space. My guide said, "We need to cross the creek right now," so we dashed out into the chest-deep current and trudged toward the opposite bank while I kept fighting the fish. The bear kept woofing at us. I landed the fish, gave my camera to the guide, he snapped a few photos, I released the sockeye, and we quickly took our leave.
