My name's Mike, and I am a photographer, writer, traveler and general idiot. Over the past few years I've been publishing my work online and in print, and now I'm at True/Slant to bring all of my screw-ups together into a single place. Through this blog, I will post my photography and writing about my travels and experiences, past and present. I've been very fortunate to travel to places as widespread as Easter Island, Egypt, Tasmania, Malta, Iceland and plenty of places in between - including quite a lot of my home country, the USA. My Current Project
I have done so much landscape photography in the past that I now look for opportunities to work with people whenever possible. A lot of my current projects will include portraiture at locations, in addition to the usual landscape work.
My Greatest Achievement
Hard to say, but having one of my plays shown on the New York stage has to be up there. That was definitely on the life 'to-do' list.
I Truly Respect
People who can - and want to - have civilized, respectful and meaningful debate with people they disagree with.
Moments I'd Like To Forget
I can't imagine that the best way to forget anything is to immortalize it on the Internet. I pass on this one.
How I Pay For This Wardrobe
Based on the average assessment of my wardrobe, I pay for it out a trust fund I established with a nickel.
Things That Really Happened
I once got sat next to a famous baseball player in the first-class section of a cross-country flight. We fall into casual conversation, and at one point he asked me if he belonged in the Hall of Fame. I answered honestly, and the remaining four+ hours of the flight were spent in absolute silence.
Where I'd Like To Be 10 Years From Now
Alive and healthy.
Why True/Slant
Because I like its model, especially in that it lets me bring together my photography and writing. This appeals to my natural laziness by not having to update more than one site.

My Most Awkward Moment
My life is composed almost entirely of these. That said, here's a recent favorite. I was photographing Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, and I had inexplicably forgotten a belt. Working with jeans one size too large, I was slowly approaching a small herd of elk to photograph them. Right as I took my first shot, my pants dropped to my ankles in a vaudeville-style moment, and the entire herd looked up at me. It was pretty awesome.
