I was a finalist for the "friendliest in the class award" in my Sophomore year of high school. I was pretty stoked about it and all for a little while, but then I learned that the award only came with a yearbook picture. No trophy. So I said the hell with it and spent the week leading up to the runoff election generally pissing people off. Hence, only second place.

Why True/Slant

It is an amazing website. There are intelligent bloggers from the right and the left, from academics and from practice, from the US and abroad. This is the one website that I can go to and hear what is going on in domestic politics, Russian newspapers, feminest thought, and the middle east all at once. As an added bonus, the contributors are universally accessible. Intelligent debate and intellectual challenge and rigor is practically required. Where else on the web does such a place exist?
