Things That Really Happened
As a little tyke, Mom would take us to the Circus. Now as an adult, it strikes me as especially poignant why those memories are the best metaphor for US politics...
As anyone who's ever been to a Good Old-Time Circus can attest, there are elements of comedy, entertainment, illusion, spectacle and a certain number of sad, pathetic, queerly dressed characters; and of course, the ever present odor of donkey & elephant shit lingering in the air.
