Windows 95, starring Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston
Valleywag has a horrific video that Microsoft spent some of its billions producing, describing how you can Host Your Own Awful Party For Windows 7. It’s sickeningly atrocious and as Ryan Tate puts it, “there’s an undercurrent of tension and seething disdain even among the hired professional actors,” forced to yammer these awful pablums. But as my friend Mike (hat tip) says, “they can’t fucking help themselves, can they?”
Check out what he just dug up on YouTube, above. Rachel Green and Chandler Bing (hey, Bing!) discover Windows 95, with the help of a sassy matron and constant references to some guy named “Bill.” Creepy and disturbing. I lived in 1995, and I can vouch that it was not as bad as this video makes it seem. Bet Aniston and Matthew Perry wish they owned the copyright to this little gem.

‘The pace is fast and funny.’ Thanks for the awesome foreshadowing, guys!
You know how people say ‘it’s so bad it’s good’? This is not.
Was it considered groovy way back in the 90s?
As groovy as the 2009 video that Valleywag has will be considered in the 2023. Why Microsoft *ever* tries to do hip is beyond me. I think Chandler and Rachel must be appearing courtesy of the MSN partnership circa that era, don’t you?

Oh come on, have a sense of humor. There’s nothing wrong with this video. It’s well made and intentionally cheesy/fun.
A sense of humor is exactly why I posted it, stalepie.
In response to another comment. See in context »No, the video is intentionally cheesy. It’s not trying to be hip. It’s like that Steve Ballmer joke (yes, joke) where he peddles an early version of Windows in hyper-overdrive… these kind of things are made as internal humor for microsoft employees..
