Women go blue because that’s where the money is
It’s always fun to know how much our politicians make and a slide show on WOW today showcases 10 of the wealthiest women in Congress, Ironically, only 2 of the top 10 are Republican–and here I always thought that the GOP was the party of the fat cats.
An interesting sidebar to this discussion is the story from May 10th on Politico about the lack of women in the Republican party. Well of course! Why would women want to be GOP if the really big fat cats are Dems?? Women have a tough enough time getting ahead as it is, earning only 87 cents on the dollar or something close. Maybe the Democratic women are actually making 100 cents on ever dollar–or maybe their husbands are.
At any rate, if this recession keeps up, women will finally make more money than men, if only because they’ll be the only ones with jobs. The net net is that there’ll be more women available for the Dems and maybe we can actually elect one of them President.
The list, in no particular order:
1. Representative Jane Harman
2. Senator Dianne Feinstein
3. Speaker Nancy Pelosi
4. Representative Carolyn Maloney
5. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R)
6. Representative Nina Lowey
7. Senator Olympia Snowe (R)
8. Senator Claire McCaskill
9. Senator Kay Hagan
10. Representative Rosa De Lauro

To show you where my mind goes, Nora – when I read the title of this piece I figured it would be a story about how economically strapped women are turning to (blue)prostitution or pole dancing!
I gotta start writing about more than just crime, don’t you think?
I’m clicking on your “follow me” button right now! Your Mcgovern/CIA mention in your profile does it for me. I love a free thinker!

“BLue” does read that way, doesn’t it? Of course, that kind of blue may also be on the rise in this economy, too:)
