Frank Sinatra and John Denver, Middle East-style

Sometimes people forget just how damn different foreign pop culture is. For a quick example, let’s head over to the Middle East and view two local interpretations of two very well-known American musical icons.

First, here is a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” by Algerian-French singers Rachid Taha and Faudel along with Algerian pop star Khaled:

Surreal enough. However, Israeli singer-actor Dori Ben Zeev’s Hebrew cover of John Denver’s “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” takes the cake for foreign oddity:
