Iran shoots down ‘UFO’

UFO's and the Men Who Fly Them! album cover

Strange, strange story. Iranian state media is reporting that the Revolutionary Guard shot down an ‘unidentified shining object’ over the Persian Gulf. The object shot down was one of a number of unknown ‘glowing objects’ sighted over the Gulf by the Revolutionary Guard. No word on what happened to the other ‘glowing objects’ which were not shot down.

The UFOs were shot down over the waters near the islands of Khark and Khargou. According to Brigadier Ali Razmjou of the Guard, three unknown objects were picked up by Iranian radar. When the radar indicated that the blips were not Iranian aircraft, the Revolutionary Guard opened fire. One of the objects was successfully hit while the other two evaded being shot down. The remains have not been found yet.

It is important to note that an unidentified flying object is just that — an unidentified flying object. A flying saucer filled with aliens? Not so likely? A covert flight or aerial vehicle? Much more likely.

That said, District 9 bootlegs are selling like hotcakes in Tehran right now. You can’t blame the Iranian media for going for a bit of UFO-mania.
