I love when every headline above the fold on Slate ends in a question mark. Don’t get me wrong, though, I adore their overall package. Gawker, on the other hand, hasn’t been for me a regular read since 2006, when it veered from frothy media stuff. Months can go by when I don’t even think to read it.

Slate and Gawker have an ongoing tendency to not let people be things. There’s still enough at both to make them worth reading sometimes (especially Dahlia Lithwick), but they get locked into different but related attitudes.
