CORRECTION: The RNC loves bondage strip clubs
In what has to be the nastiest news of the day, the RNC has spent lots of money going to a fancy S&M strip club in West Hollywood. And I use the word “nasty” with the UTMOST respect for people who like S&M. It’s the “RNC” part that’s tweaking me out.
The Washington Post is reporting the RNC spent
nearly $2,000 for ‘meals’ at Voyeur West Hollywood, a lesbian-themed nightclub that features topless dancers in bondage outfits.”
‘Meals’ is in quotes! GROSS!!!
HuffPo blogger Jason Linkins already tried to go to Voyeur’s website with no success, and instead turned to Yelp to get a feel for the nightclub. He cites the following review:
The girl at the door sent us in right away and told us to go to a table by the bar and get some free Champagne. Seriously. This club is amazing. There are topless “dancers” acting out S&M scenes throughout the night on one of the side stages, there’s a half-naked girl hanging from a net across the ceiling and at one point I walked to the bathroom and pretty much just stopped dead in my tracks to watch two girls simulating oral sex in a glass case.
Really understated elegance here. Also, Lindsay Lohan was at our table at one point.
I had to read the phrase “really understated elegance here” a few times, and I still can’t tell whether this person was joking or whether they’re not sure what the word “elegance” means. A few reviews I found described the place as “shady,” “sexy, dark, mysterious, and provocative,” with models who “kinda reminded me of lady gaga except topless, kinda got caught off guard at first lol.”
CORRECTION: I originally interpreted the HuffPo article, and the article it references, to say that Steele himself was thought to have gone to the club:
Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.
However, the Washington Post article does not make this connection explicit, so I’d like to correct myself from claiming that Steele himself loves bondage. I will reiterate my original point, though: the hypocrisy of a party that claims to be fiscally responsible and morally conservative behaving this way is staggering.

Just read the article to which you linked and am unable to conclude anything about Michael Steele’s opinion regarding S&M.
“The RNC said Monday it is investigating the disbursement of the money to Erik Brown of Orange, Calif…”
Lary,
Thank you. The HuffPo article and the Daily Caller article it linked to was more leading in suggesting Steele’s connection to the strip club, but you’re right to point out my error in citing the Post’s article for any direct connection to Steele. Thank you, and thanks for reading.
