These are controllers who do nothing but handle VFR traffic in the Bravo. They are 'tower' controllers, but they're not the same guys working the CTAF at LGA/EWR. I've flown the corridor many times, and feel comfortable looking for other fixed wing aircraft at the same altitude. It's a tall order, though, to spot the blenders in and out of the heliports. For that reason, I prefer to fly in the bravo at 1500-2000ft, above the chaos, but below the jets. "See and avoid" doesn't work well with the DENSITY and MIX of operations that are being conducted in the corridor right now.
