Update: Orphans being evicted still awaiting hearing
A lot of you have been asking me about the Erica Bledsoe case that I wrote about back in July (and which was also in the Tribune last week). The family was supposed to have a hearing in early September, but I wanted to let you know that it’s been moved to October 8th.
Northpoint’s attorney’s ended up filing a cross-motion for summary judgment. That means that they not only filed their response, but they say why they think they should win and not have to go to trial (I hope that didn’t insult your legal intelligence – I didn’t know what it meant, and so I asked). You can read that document here.
In the mean time, Erica and the kids are still waiting.
As Nicki Bazer, Erica’s attorney, told me: the wheels of justice turn slowly.
I hope to be at the hearing on the 8th, so I will let you know what happens.
