I would asks Palin some tough questions–ie why she thinks she should run for higher office when she couldn’t handle the pressures of being Governor of Alaska? Or why she thinks her daughter is qualified to get big bucks as the spokesman for Abstinence? Or why she leaves the care of Tryg to the rest of the family and only uses him as a political prop? Or why she posts Meeghan Simpleton’s opinion on all political subjects and acts as if the idea is actually hers? What a phoney–if her lips are moving, you know she is telling lies.

But his consistent lack of success since the beginning of his reign with the Fighting Irish tell a different story: a bad black head coach is still a bad head coach.

Matt, you are without question my favorite political writer; in turning friends on to your work I have even gone so far as to compare you with Mencken and Hunter S. But sometimes you’re a bit sloppy, which would not be such a big deal if you hadn’t garnered so much attention for your very funny excoriations of literary klutzes like Thomas Friedman.

The year was actually 1970. I assume this would have been corrected before the piece was published. No big deal. But …

Unless I am suffering from a protracted mental hiccup — granted, not an impossibility — what you meant to say was, “don’t be at all surprised if she emerges with the status of something like a religious figure…”

I know you’re busy fighting the good fight, and that this piece was previously unpublished. On the other hand, you decided to publish it without ironing out such wrinkles. I’m not trying to be a persnickity asshole; I just want you to maintain iron-clad literary bona-fides. I’m on your side.

Thanks for so tirelessly and mightily sticking it to the subhuman reptiles who are running this insane asylum.

sorry for point twice, I meant to respond to carolyn..

It is refreshing to have a reasonably written counter-point. I dislike ditto-heads, especially Rush Limbaugh ditto-heads. At first when I found out Palin was picked my first reaction was, hey she’s a governor, near my age, nice looking, and spoke well especially at the Republican convention. However, under further examination, she really is a PTA bulldog good for rooting out corruption and being tenacious at working a narrow agenda. She does not have the intellect to be president. I don’t think she is as bad as typically characterized, but I think she would be overwhelmed with the office. I see no evidence of McCain stabbing her in the back. She owes all of her current notoriety to McCain. Her political wounds have been pretty much self-inflicted and the fact that liberal elites are a bit afraid of her. They tend to make fun of people they can’t understand.

Hi Matt,

Not Palin related but just wanted to let you know that Goldman was able to improve on Q2 97% winning percentage in Q3. They just pulled of a 98.4% winning %, meaning they lost money only 1 day in 3 months.

So in the past 6 months they have lost money only 3 days. They are just more talented than the rest of us.

Ahem.
