Dead City, Birthers and ‘The National Security Threat of Climate Change’
Downtown Pittsburgh is nearly empty; I’d say it’s a ghost town but people are here — cops mostly, in cars, on motorcycles, on horses in roving crowds, smirking. I’m holed up in the bright and plush new August Wilson Center. On the way here, ran into a confessed Truther and Birther duo working on a documentary on the New World Order. It was comforting to finally meet protesters who were not Anarchists. In a moment, I’m invited to a conference to discuss the “National Security Threat of Climate Change.” More on that if it turns into anything interesting. Here’s what Ron Paul thinks of the G20:

Downtown is nothing but cops. Cops in cars, cops on foot, cops on horses, cadres of cops on bikes. County cops, City cops, Clairton cops (?!), Rent-a-Cops, Army National Guard in more body armor than the troops have in Iraq, just to hem in some freaking Greenpeace activists. Really? C’mon Man!

What kind of awful hotel room is that? And, Dr. Paul, I’m sure that the G-20 is not talking about the same thing you at C4L talk about. I know, I get the emails. By the way, good luck with that intellectual battle. Let me know how it goes. I wish I could find that portion of the Constitution about gold and silver. Probably near the parts that allow wiretapping and torture.
