NBC’s ‘Seinfeld Strategy’ beginning to emerge…

PASADENA, CA - JANUARY 10: Executive Producer...

NBC: Please like Jerry Seinfeld... (Image by Getty Images via Daylife)

Dear Viewers:

Remember back in the 1990’s when you all watched “Seinfeld” and we were all, like, “Do you like it? and you were all, like, “Hells yeah, we like it!”? That was fun… right?

You watched a lot of NBC shows back then… <sigh>

Well, we kinda need you to watch a lot of NBC shows again — that’s why we got Jerry Seinfeld to come back. Oh, sure… he’s not actually in “The Marriage Ref” every week, but he’s the executive producer, which means he pays the people who are in the show every week.

But you’ll still watch, right? After all, it’s got Jerry Seinfeld’s name attached to it.

No?

OK — how about we get Jerry to be in a show again? Would you watch “Saturday Night Live” more often if Jerry showed up on it occasionally, for no apparent reason?

If that works, we’ll just start having Jerry show up on different shows whenever we can (schedule permitting). OK?

So, we have a deal, right?

Please?

xoxo,

NBC

Watching Community and 30 Rock regularly isn’t enough? What’s with that?

Only Jerry at this point could have gotten that show greenlighted. It is not good.

    About Me

I left journalism school with one goal in mind: to work at TV Guide. It didn't happen. So, I stuck with my day-job: retyping entertainment listings into the Prodigy computer service for The Los Angeles Times. Dial-up modems got faster and I stuck with the Web -- launching, editing and innovating national, political and feature news Web sites for ABC News, The Washington Post and AOL. I've spent 15 years making other people's content look good on computer screens. It's time the shoe finally landed on the other foot...
