And You Thought the L.A. Wildfires Were Bad
Check out this graphic from the University of Maryland’s Fire Information For Resource Management System. The red and orange spots indicate fires.
The L.A. fires are just a speck. Meanwhile, roughly a third of Africa seems to be on fire. The Amazon doesn’t seem to be faring much better. This isn’t all that surprising, as news of migrant farmers slashing and burning the rainforest in the pursuit of arable farmland isn’t exactly breaking. What is surprising is how much of Europe is currently being torched. Greece’s battle with wildfires outside of Athens has drawn media scrutiny for the second straight year, but who knew the areas surrounding Kiev and Moscow were blazing?
