First Google commercial tells a tale of Parisian Love

Super Bowl commercials are usually hilarious, riotous or just plain weird. So when Google’s first television commercial aired, quiet and quaint as it was, it was like a palate cleanser between the beer-and-babes ads. Along with the calming ambient music, the commercial tells a tale of Parisian love – starting with a search for studying abroad and ultimately ending with a search for how to assemble a crib. Watch the video and tell me you don’t think it’s cute!

Very good commercial, but not the first Google commercial. I’ve seen this on TV before advertising Google Chrome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHZFsJKlsuA
And you could possibly count the Droid commercials (is there a Nexus ad yet?)…
I suppose I should have been more specific. It’s the first Google commercial I’ve seen that advertises its main business – search. I’ve never seen that Chrome ad before, thanks for sharing it! Was it only televised in Japan?
As far as the Droid or other Android phones, I don’t think I could count those. They would either be strictly Android or for the device themselves, which are usually pumped by the carrier or manufacturer.

I think the main reason they bought it wasn’t to advertise Chrome (it doesn’t even work very well in that sense) but to show off their new television ad buying service. A little meta.
