TwitterPeek embodies all the negative stereotypes about Twitter
I’ve tried to convince a few of my friends who aren’t on Twitter to give it a shot, but to no avail. I hear all the same lines: Why bother? What good is it, there are other sites that do the same thing? It seems pointless and stupid. It doesn’t make any sense. Well, if you can materialize every negative stereotype about Twitter into a gadget, you’d have the TwitterPeek. You’d think that the future is moving toward consolidating gadgets into do-it-all machines, like mobile phones that take pictures, play music, sends/receives email and browses the Internet. TwitterPeek is taking three steps backward.
TwitterPeek is a Twitter-only device. Yes, you read that correctly — it only does Twitter. No email. No phone calls. No camera. So, we have a device that is made to do only one thing, but it can’t even do it well! Without a camera, how can you upload pictures to Twitter? Without a browser, how can you share links with all your friends? Without a GPS, it’s virtually impossible to geo-tag any of your tweets.
For $200, you can have the device and a lifetime of service, but for $99 you get the device and 6 months of service with every month at $7.95 thereafter. Please, someone tell me I’ve woken up in an alternate universe where black is white, the sky is green and we’ve gone back to using unifunctional devices!
