Adobe sticks it to Apple with Flash message on iPhone
Recently I was on a phone call with Adobe while being given a presentation on some Flash stuff. When asked if I had any questions, the first thing that came to mind was, “When is Flash coming to the iPhone?” The moment of silence followed by their response to that question made me feel like I just insulted someone’s mother. Adobe is fully prepared to bring Flash to the iPhone, but it’s all in Apple’s court now. The error message pictured above basically says, “Thanks for trying to access this content, and also big thanks to Apple, but you’re not going to be able to. Live with it and blame your manufacturer.”
Personally, I don’t mind that Flash isn’t on the iPhone. Yes, it is a big deal and there are a lot of websites that don’t work on Safari for iPhone due to lack of Flash support, but after using Android (whose browser fully supports Flash) for a few weeks, I came to realize that a) I don’t do enough serious or heavy browsing on my phone to warrant Flash, and b) the non-Flash sites that I did visit annoyed me with Flash-based ads and banners. I guess you can’t have it all.
