Woman Pregnant With 2 Babies Due 1 Week Apart

29 Weeks outside (4)

A Salt Lake City mom is pregnant with two babies, only they’re not twins. They don’t even have the same due date. The expectant mom, Angie Cromar has two uteruses, a rare condition known as uterus didelphys. She got pregnant with one and then a couple of weeks later with another.

It’s happy news for the 34-year-old and baffling news for her doctors. The chance of her getting pregnant in both uteruses was one in five million. Only 100 such cases of a double pregnancy like Cromar’s are known.

Cromar and her husband already have three children under 8 years old so she was aware of her rare condition. She also knows that this pregnancy isn’t without its risks. The babies could be born at a low birth weight or prematurely. But so far, so good. The fetuses are around 20-weeks along (give or take a week, right?) and they are developing normally.

The Cromars found out about this extremely unusual pregnancy when she went in for an ultrasound. The techs saw one fetus that was five weeks and one day along and then noticed the second, which was more like six weeks and a day.

This is medically fascinating and I wish the best for the family and the babies.

However, if you have three kids under eight years of age, why would you not use reliable birth control? Why would you want to get pregnant again? I would feel guilty having any more kids because I already have two. There are seven billion people on this planet and they all need clean water, air and food.

If you don’t want the kids, don’t have them. Many choose not to have any.

You are treading on a deeply personal issue that others will take offense from.

There is no way that you or anyone else can demonstrate how many people the earth can support. When I was a child, people predicted widespread famine and disease because, given the farming methods back then, there didn’t appear to be any way that people could possibly feed themselves once they reached the four billion mark.

Fast forward to today. The prediction looks absolutely silly. With modern farming techniques, we can continue to feed the world quite well even at almost twice the predicted collapse point.

Likewise, what we have is a lack of pristine water resources. However, there are loads of discoveries every day on how to reuse water inexpensively. I’m willing to bet that those predictions about water scarcity will be full of beans as well.

The situation with other environmental issues is also much the same. People find ways to adapt.

There have been many before you who have predicted the end of the world as we know it, and therefore we should constrain ourselves…

The act of parenting children is one of optimism. Who do you think you are, criticizing someone for their faith in the future, saying they shouldn’t have more children?
