I don't want to go into a back and forth on this. I will only ask three questions: You mention Garafolo and Franken as doing on the left what Liddy and Co. do on the right. Okay.
Name ONE occasion where either Garofolo or Franken suggested shooting an ATF officer in the head, dead?
Then, if you get that far, name ONE occasion where they heard speeches by Hitler and were so moved they wanted to give the guy a hug?
And name one time they embraced murder as a solution to a political disagreement?
To quote Sean Connery: "Thus endit the lesson."

Lorenzo is one of my dearest friends. He is like a brother to me. We have been going round and round about political issues for years. While we are able to find common ground on most topics, we remain at odds over the current political situation.

In the interest of full disclosure let me say that I am a registered Republican and I didn't vote for President Obama. I voted for John McCain because I felt he was the better candidate. As a senior senator and war hero, I felt, he had demonstrated many times over the years that he had the capacity to unite us and LEAD the country in these difficult times.

When Senator Obama was elected to the presidency, I admit I was disappointed, but I accepted that the people had spoken. On Election Night I said a prayer for the new president and wished him good health, safety, and success. I suspect most Americans felt the same as me.

The first mistake Lorenzo makes in the piece is failing to segregate those he calls "Loons" from the GOP. He paints all conservatives with the same brush - big mistake. He highlights people like Liddy, Rush, Beck as though they are average conservatives. Hello! - They are in show business! Their job is to get ratings. They can be outlandish, sure. But here is a news flash for you, people on my side of the aisle often disagree with those guys on issues. When they do, they simply maintain their position on the subject. In my view commentators like Franken (now a US Senator) and Garafolo on the Left are no different than Liddy and Beck on the Right. They do the same thing, rant and rave about things they believe in. How you take it in depends on where you sit.

Next, lets talk about hate. Here I really disagree with Lorenzo. I believe the Left harbors and demonstrates much more hate than the Right. I found the tone of this piece somewhat angry and maybe, just maybe a little hateful. The descriptions of individuals, the mocking of people about education, saying the other side doesn't read - all seem a little hateful to me. Not only do I see some speech on the Left as hateful but also incendiary. Remember what was said about GW?

Free speech can be rough sometimes. It can get even get ugly. But, our protected right to speek freely is one of the most precious gifts our Constitution gives us. While drawing moustache on President Obama's picture may be in very poor taste, it is not Un-American and is absolutely legal. I know for a fact, Lorenzo wouldn't have been upset about the altering of an image of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The outrage expressed on the Left about the recent Town Hall meetings is laughable, and more than a little hypocritical. Noisy town hall meetings are nothing if not 100% American. Ever been to a local school board meeting?

Finally, Lorenzo warns the Republicans that they are only 20% of the population and shrinking. I'm not too sure about that. In fact, I believe a recent poll revealed that today, in America, more people are describing themselves as Conservative than Liberal(thank you Pelosi & Reid).

The USA is still a Center/Right country. We elected President Obama because the people were upset with the Republicans and wanted a change. Now, as the American People see the change President Obama is offering, they are rejecting it and him along with it. That is why his numbers are falling fast. Another news flash - It has NOTHING to do with race.

So far, for my money, President Obama has failed to demonstrate real LEADERSHIP. His lack of executive experience is showing. His White House is in disarray. He is floundering. While I am still rooting for him, I'm less and less confident in his ability to rebound. To get back on track, and have the majority of the country behind him, he needs to move to the Center, Fast!

I thought I was getting pretty numb. But when I saw Liddy on Hardball, I couldn't believe how mad I got. Just having him on that show gives him an implicit credibility he doesn't deserve.
