Guardian angel apologizes for letting Pope break wrist
Responding to comments by Pope Benedict XVI that his guardian angel let him down when he fell and broke his wrist earlier this month, the angel in question apologized today and promised to “be more on the ball in the future.”
The angel Jamaerah, speaking at a news conference broadcast on the Organized Religion Channel, blamed his lapse on financial cutbacks that have increased angel caseloads in recent months.
“Last year I was only responsible for watching over the Pope, three ayatollahs, a Tibetan monk and Sarah Palin,” he said. “This year I’ve also been handling the New York State Senate and Jon Gosselin plus I’ve got 16 rabbis in New Jersey. Oy. It’s too much.”
Jamaerah spoke after the 82-year-old Pope, vacationing in the Alpine resort of Les Combes, Italy, thanked officials there for their help when he fell and broke a wrist ten days ago.
“Unfortunately, my own guardian angel did not prevent my injury, certainly following superior orders,” Benedict said. “Perhaps the Lord wanted to teach me more patience and humility, give me more time for prayer and meditation.”
But Jamaerah denied that he was following superior orders.
“I haven’t heard from God in eons,” he said. “It’s like he’s lost interest or something. We’re pretty much on our own down here and we’re getting squeezed.”
Jamaerah, who holds the rank of senior guardian angel in the Dept. of Oversight and Guidance, added, “I’m
an androgynous being of pure spirit, but a guy’s only got so much unconditional love to cough up.”

I think he should drop Sarah Palin.
