Cleveland Plain Dealer’s front page parting shot at LeBron James
Last night as LeBron James announced he would sign with the Miami Heat, I wondered what would be on page one of today’s Cleveland Plain Dealer. Effectively Cleveland’s paper of record, the PD pulled no punches, avoiding the passive aggressive displays you might typically see from a spurned lover (we’ll leave that to Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, oh my, there’s more and it’s crazier).
But on the other hand, it’s a bit strange to knock the man’s failure to win a NBA championship when what you really wanted him to do was win your city a NBA championship. And if he does go on to win one or more rings down in Miami, while you’re still selling tickets to Caveliers’ games by the family pack (HT: Carl Franzen at AOL News Surge Desk), there’s going to be some bitter feelings about why it couldn’t happen with you.
Anyway, at least they didn’t say “we can still be friends.” That’s the worst. The cover is after the jump.

Nice. I think they got it just right too, because if LeBron wins rings in Miami, it still won’t be his team. It’s still DWade’s team now and for some time.

Thanks, we are having several organized bonfires here in Cleveland tomorrow, anything #23 is allowed to burn.
Gotta love the hate coming out of Cleveland. My favorite part of the email (other than the silly font) is the championship guarantee. I’ll take that wager Dan.
