UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh ‘resting comfortably.’

It’s been an eventful week on the links in Hawaii. First President Obama evacuated a golf course in short order when the child of a golfing buddy was injured on the beach near the Obama family vacation compound.

Now, according to KITV, conservative radio host and sometimes unofficial Republican Party leader Rush Limbaugh apparently has suffered from chest pains and was rushed to a hospital:

Conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital on Wednesday afternoon with chest pains, sources told KITV.

Paramedics responded to the call at 2:41 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

Limbaugh suffered from chest pains, sources said. Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.

He was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier this week. The country club is next to the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

Here’s hoping that Rush’s medical concerns are as minor those suffered by the young friend of the Obama family earlier in the week. Stay tuned.

Update: 10:05 pm – KHON joins KITV in reporting that Limbaugh is in ’serious condition,’ although one would say that getting into an ambulance is always a sign of ’seriousness,’ so Rush could be in relatively good shape.

10:09 pm – So it’s about 5 pm in Hawaii; that means it’s been more than 2 hours since Rush was taken to the hospital. I’m a little surprised that Limbaugh hasn’t spoken out himself to get ahead of the story, and I hope that doesn’t mean he’s too incapacitated to speak. But perhaps his personal life, his real personal life, is something that he keeps under wraps.

10:25 pm – I fear the worst for Rushbo; TMZ is confirming that someone had ‘chest discomfort’ at Rush’s hotel, and given their evil reporting powers, if they can’t get more details, they must really have pulled up the drawbridge on this story.

11:34 pm – KITV adds that Limbaugh will spend the night in the hospital. I wouldn’t call that an indication of anything terrible having happened to Rush – it’s pretty routine when doctors aren’t sure what happened in a cardiac situation that they’ll keep you overnight, and even send you home the next morning if all looks OK.

    About Me

I'm waiting for the day when I can get the news directly into my brain. Until then, I'll be lit up by the electric glow of screens, chasing the latest breaking like the hopeless news junkie I am. Ever since the Encyclopaedia Britannica tried to launch a web portal ten years ago, I've seen many ends of the online news spectrum, from my time as a political news reporter for both RawStory.com and the Huffington Post to the better part of a year I spent running the late New York Sun's website. There have been a lot of other stops in between. Now I am your homepage editorial overlord. But I haven't let it go to my head. Yet.
