Something Democrats can finally, definitively blame on George W. Bush
I’m a bit late to this story, but, Ari Fleischer, President Bush’s first, and baldest press secretary (as opposed to his baldest-lie-telling press secretary, and it’s hard to pick one), will be helping the Bowl Championship Series with public relations:
Ari Fleischer Communications, a sports public relations firm headed by the former press secretary for President George W. Bush, has been hired by BCS officials to help remodel the tattered image of college football’s postseason system.
BCS executive director Bill Hancock, promoted to the newly recreated position early this week, announced the hiring of Fleischer’s company Saturday.
Hancock said in a statement the goal of the hiring was to help highlight the positive aspects of the BCS, which he called the best way to match college football’s top two teams, while preserving the bowl system.

So here’s what we know: the war in Afghanistan is definitely now President Obama’s war, or at least it will be once he gives his address to Congress next Tuesday. And while the previous administration had some responsibility for the lax regulatory framework that resulted in our current economic conniption, President Obama may get some of the blame for the jobless recovery we have started to see.
But we know that President Obama favors a play-off system to select the top team in NCAA college football.
And that means because Fleischer is repping the terrible, awful, no good college football bowl system we and our college athletes labor under every winter, the fact that we’re stuck with the Bowl Championship Series is definitely the Bush administration’s fault.
