Newsmax issues a subliterate statement about its Obama coup article
After I blogged yesterday about the degenerate ravings of John L. Perry on why President Obama should be overthrown in a coup, we knew that Newsmax and its editors were not good at logic.
But after they issued a statement at the blog Confederate Yankee pathetically trying to distance themselves from the now yanked Perry column that they promoted on their front page, we also see that they just aren’t very good at the English language:
Statement from Newsmax Regarding Blogger
In a blog posting to Newsmax John Perry wrote about a coup scenario involving the U.S. military.
He clearly stated that he was not advocating such a scenario but simply describing one.
After several reader complaints, Newsmax wanted to insure that this article was not misinterpreted. It was removed after a short period after being posted.
Newsmax strongly believes in the principles of Constitutional government and would never advocate or insinuate any suggestion of an activity that would undermine our democracy or democratic institutions.
Mr. Perry served as a political appointee in the Carter administration in HUD and FEMA. He has no official relationship with Newsmax other than as an unpaid blogger.
That’s ‘ensure’ and you don’t want to use after twice in the same sentence. It creates sequential confusion. Nice work there – with editorial standards like those, it’s no wonder you guys let Perry’s column slip through the cracks and promoted it on your homepage.
Also, I love how Perry working for President Carter is somehow evidence that his views are not representative of Newsmax’s mainstream. I mean, it’s not like Newsmax’s editor-in-chief is a birther or anything. Oh wait. And it’s not like we’ve never seen a conservative foam at the mouth who used to be a card-carrying liberal. TPM takes down the notion that this was just “a blog posting” and that Perry has “no official relationship” with Newsmax.
Kudos go out to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air for condemning Newsmax and Perry without much equivocation. Over at the so-called conservative mainstream on National Review’s The Corner, not a peep.
