Adventures in new media revenue generation: The Daily Beast’s ‘News Cocktail’

Debuting the News Cocktail of the Week: “The Public Option” is a cure-all cocktail sure to bridge ALL sides of the health care debate.

via Support “The Public Option!” – The Daily Beast.

Far be it from me to fault my friends at The Daily Beast for earning some revenue.

But I’ll tell you this.

After this summer of health care rage, I don’t want a refreshing cocktail to bridge all sides of the health care debate. I want a stiff double of whiskey that will encourage me to wrap my hands around a cudgel and vanquish my political opponents.

Jameson Irish Whiskey, perhaps we can set something up where you send me bottles of whiskey, I drink them, get enraged, and write really mean blog posts. I am happy to start each blog post with, “So I was drinking Jameson, and I read…”

If you’d like to discuss this idea, please write to my tips e-mail at the bottom left.

If you’re not interested, screw you guys, I’ll get in touch with the good people at Powers.

I think you meant to ask people to write to your tipsy email address. Just my guess.

    About Me

I'm waiting for the day when I can get the news directly into my brain. Until then, I'll be lit up by the electric glow of screens, chasing the latest breaking like the hopeless news junkie I am. Ever since the Encyclopaedia Britannica tried to launch a web portal ten years ago, I've seen many ends of the online news spectrum, from my time as a political news reporter for both RawStory.com and the Huffington Post to the better part of a year I spent running the late New York Sun's website. There have been a lot of other stops in between. Now I am your homepage editorial overlord. But I haven't let it go to my head. Yet.
