19 to life for Phil Spector: From the Wall of Sound to the walls of jail
The Associated Press reports that Phil Spector has been sentenced for the murder of Lana Clarkson. It’s a 19 years to life sentence and ends a sad Hollywood chapter 6 years after the famed music producer murdered the actress.
The LA Times offers up this detail from the courtroom:
Before the sentencing, the victim’s mother, Donna Clarkson, told the judge she was heartbroken by the death of her daughter.
“All our plans together are destroyed. Now I can only visit her in the cemetery,” she said.
Then again, perhaps it’s not the last chapter.
His attorney, Doron Weinberg, told the AP, “He’s adjusting to the circumstances and settling down to wait out an appeal with high hopes. He feels he will win the appeal.” I’m guessing they won’t let him stay free while his appeal is pending.
