The Coolest Chinese Sculpture About Bernie Madoff And The Wall Street Crisis You Will See Today

Bernie Madoff being pinned to the wall by a huge, farting bull…which is supposed to represent Wall Street. All from the mind of Chinese artist Chen Wenling.
I mean, come on. How amazing is that?
Here’s the question: If you had to create a sculpture about the financial crisis, what would it look like?

It would be a skyscraper of tarot cards, with a globe sitting on top.
I love it!
Mine would be a bunch of bankers worshiping a golden bull while the floor is crumbling beneath them.
I would just add to the current piece putting some investors in the cloud of gas.
Hilarious. I actually envision a watercolor of Madoff in the back of a limo with jailbars on the window reading Thomas Mann’s
“Confessions of Felix Krull, Confidence Man.”
I like the limo with jailbars! Nice visual. But have to admit that the Thomas Mann reference is over my head.
In response to another comment. See in context »Felix Krull is a prototype con-man. I haven’t looked at the novel in many years. But I find I keep on thinking about Mann these days. His novels capture the decline of landed aristocracy in the face of the industrial age. Transitions interest me — I believe we are in the middle of one so large we can’t quite grasp it.
In response to another comment. See in context »I absolutely agree we’re in a transition, but we’ll have to wait until 2010 and 2012 to see what that really means from a political standpoint.
In response to another comment. See in context »I’m in an indieband (Russians), and we’re debuting a new song, “Madoff,” this Saturday at Pianos.
Be great to project this image on the backwall! Thanks for sharing this.
Madoff
Take you head off—
Then take your coat.
I will take everything you own.
Start as shadow; end as ghost.
I will take everything you own.
Life’s a parlor game, and I’m winning for sure—
Life’s a parlor game; I’m in it for more.
Take your head off—
Crack your spine.
I will turn what is yours to mine.
Love all children, ’til they’ve grown.
Then I’ll take everything they own.
I will take everything they own.
I will take everything they own.
