If you really love Russia, you don’t have to know where things actually are
Aleksandr Podrabinek, the Russian journalist whose article on the Anti-Soviet Kabob House turned loose a horde of angry veterans, is still in hiding after receiving death threats and especially after someone tried to break into his apartment. One of Podrabinek’s colleagues at Ej.ru, the liberal site for which he wrote the article, told me ej.ru is currently spending $500 a day on security for him.
Yesterday, however, Podrabinek made an appearance on the liberal Echo Moskvy radio station. (He called in for an interview.) And he had some words for the members of Nashi, the pro-Kremlin, Hitler Youth-like youth group, picketing his apartment building round the clock for two weeks: “No, I haven’t spoken to those kids. Mainly, because I haven’t lived in that house for a long time now…They came to the wrong address.”

Julia, I admire your courage to work as a journalist in Russia and cover important topics, especially the ones journalists are facing overseas.
